Overview

Grenada's citizenship by investment programme operates under the Grenada Citizenship by Investment Act 2013 (Act No. 15 of 2013) and is now administered by the Investment Migration Agency (IMA) Grenada, working with the Citizenship by Investment Committee (CBIC). Two routes are published on imagrenada.gd: a National Transformation Fund (NTF) contribution of USD 235,000 (covering a single applicant up to a family of four, with USD 25,000-50,000 per additional dependant after the third and USD 75,000 per additional sibling), or investment in an approved project — USD 350,000 for full ownership or USD 270,000 as a qualifying co-investment — plus a USD 50,000 government fee. Per-person charges apply on both routes: application fee USD 1,500; due diligence USD 5,000 for everyone 17 and over (nil for children 0-16); processing USD 1,500 (17+) or USD 500 (under 17); and a mandatory interview fee of USD 1,000 per person aged 17+, including any non-applicant spouse or sponsor — interviews became mandatory under Circular No. 9 with effect from 1 September 2023. Verified against imagrenada.gd and cbi.gov.gd as of June 2026.

Worked Examples — Government-Payable Totals

  • Single applicant, NTF: 235,000 + 1,500 + 5,000 + 1,500 + 1,000 = USD 244,000 payable to government, before Authorised Local Agent and International Marketing Agent professional fees, document legalisation and translations.
  • Couple + two children under 17, NTF: 235,000 contribution + 6,000 application (4 × 1,500) + 10,000 due diligence (2 adults) + 4,000 processing (2 × 1,500 + 2 × 500) + 2,000 interviews (2 adults) = USD 257,000.
  • Single applicant, co-investment real estate: 270,000 investment + 50,000 government fee + 9,000 in application/DD/processing/interview = USD 329,000 committed, of which the 270,000 is an asset you must hold under the Act's resale rules — confirm the current holding period for your project with your Authorised Local Agent.
  • Payment timing: fees are paid with submission; the NTF contribution or completion of the property purchase happens only after the CBIC's approval letter — the principal investment is not at risk during vetting.
  • Agent fees are extra: applications must flow through an Authorised International Marketing Agent and an Authorised Local Agent (you cannot approach Local Agents or the CBIC directly); their fees are commercial and unpublished — obtain written quotes.

Documents That Drive Hidden Costs

  • IMA forms: Form 1 (personal information), Form 2 (fingerprints), Form 3 (particulars for the Office of Home Affairs), Form 4 (medical), Form 5 (employment status/wealth/business), Form 6 (investment confirmation) — all published on imagrenada.gd.
  • Medical certificate: every applying family member needs a practitioner's certificate confirming no communicable disease — budget for private exams in your home country.
  • Police certificates: required for applicants; multi-country residence histories mean multiple certificates, each with issuance, legalisation and translation costs.
  • English + legalisation: all supporting documents must be submitted in English and appropriately legalised — certified translation and apostille/legalisation chains commonly add USD 1,000-3,000+ for an international family.
  • Passport fees: Grenadian passports are issued after the certificate of registration via your Local Agent; passport office fees are separate from the IMA table.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does Grenada citizenship cost a family of four in total?

On the NTF route, USD 257,000 payable to government for two adults and two children under 17: the USD 235,000 contribution plus USD 6,000 application fees, USD 10,000 due diligence on the adults, USD 4,000 processing and USD 2,000 interview fees. Add Authorised Agent professional fees (commercial, unpublished), document legalisation, translations and medicals — realistic all-in totals typically land around USD 280,000-310,000. The real-estate route costs more upfront (USD 270,000-350,000 + USD 50,000 government fee) but returns an asset.

Is the interview really mandatory, and who pays for it?

Yes. Circular No. 9 made interviews mandatory from 1 September 2023, and the IMA's current fee table charges USD 1,000 per person aged 17 and over — explicitly including a non-applicant spouse and a non-applicant sponsor, not just applicants. Interviews verify identity, application content and source-of-funds answers. Treat preparation seriously: inconsistencies between your interview and your Forms 1-6 are a common source of delay or refusal, and the fee is part of the non-refundable cost of applying.

NTF or real estate — which is better value?

NTF is cheaper and simpler: USD 235,000 gone, no ongoing obligations, total government outlay around USD 244,000 for a single applicant. Real estate requires USD 270,000 (co-investment) or USD 350,000 (full unit) plus a USD 50,000 government fee — about USD 329,000+ committed — but the investment is an asset in a Gazette-approved project that can be sold after the statutory holding period. Factor in property carrying costs, the resale market's dependence on future CBI buyers, and confirm current holding rules with your Authorised Local Agent before choosing.

What fees do I lose if Grenada refuses my application?

The per-person fees paid at submission: application (USD 1,500 each), due diligence (USD 5,000 per adult), processing (USD 1,500/500) and interview (USD 1,000 per adult) — plus whatever you have paid your agents and spent on documents. For a family of four that is roughly USD 22,000 at risk. The big number is protected: the NTF contribution is only wired, and a property purchase only completed, after the approval letter, so a refusal does not cost you the USD 235,000+.

Can I add family members after I become a citizen?

The published dependant structure prices additions within the application: after the third dependant, each additional dependant costs USD 25,000-50,000 on top of the NTF contribution, and an additional sibling costs USD 75,000. Each added person also carries their own application, due-diligence, processing and interview fees by age band. For post-grant additions (new spouse, newborn), procedures run through your Authorised Local Agent to the CBIC — confirm current add-on pricing with the IMA before committing, as it is set by regulation and circular.

Who can be my dependant in a Grenada application?

Grenada's family definition includes your spouse, dependent children, dependent parents and grandparents, and provision exists for siblings (an additional sibling attracts a USD 75,000 contribution on the NTF route). Age bands matter for fees: 0-16 pay no due diligence and reduced processing (USD 500); from 17 they pay adult due diligence (USD 5,000), processing (USD 1,500) and interview (USD 1,000) fees. The exact qualifying criteria for each dependant class are set in the Act and regulations — your Authorised Local Agent must verify each dependant's eligibility before filing.
